Amidst the excitement of winning the Grand Prize in Painting in Indiana and being featured in 2 magazines, a disappointing juror notification card showed up today in the mail. This is the 3rd rejection I've received this year. Although I'm a little bummed, this is the reality with art competitions. I'm not posting this to complain, but rather demonstrate that this is how it is most of the time; rejection is part of the process. However, just because this particular painting didn't get accept at this exhibition, doesn't mean it won't be successful elsewhere. There is a show in North Carolina I'm going to submit this piece to. It is titled, 2016 American Art Today: What is American Art? I feel just about any of my paintings could be displayed in it. The prize money is good too. |
